Psychiatry Consultants and Associate Specialists

We are seeking experienced and compassionate Psychiatry Consultants and Associate Specialists for opportunities across various locations.

Positions are available within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Older Adult Psychiatry, and General Adult Psychiatry. These roles offer the opportunity to deliver high-quality psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings.

Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status would be beneficial, although applications from suitably experienced candidates without these approvals may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Manage patients with a wide range of complex mental health conditions across CAMHS, Older Adult, or General Adult Psychiatry services.
  • Conduct clinical reviews, ward rounds, outpatient appointments, and community-based assessments as required.
  • Assess and manage clinical risk, safeguarding concerns, and mental health crises.
  • Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and care planning discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing teams, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide clinical leadership, advice, and support to junior doctors and other members of the mental health team.
  • Ensure the safe and appropriate use of medication and monitor patients’ responses to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date clinical records.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits, service development, quality improvement, and safeguarding processes.
  • Ensure clinical practice complies with GMC standards, the Mental Health Act, local policies, and relevant professional guidance.

Candidate Requirements

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a licence to practise.
  • Relevant experience in CAMHS, Older Adult Psychiatry, or General Adult Psychiatry.
  • Strong clinical assessment, risk management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary mental health teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and patient management skills.
  • Section 12 approval would be advantageous.
  • Approved Clinician status would be advantageous.
